The issue put forward by President Abdulla Yameen to the Parliament to seek advice on leaving the commonwealth has been sent to a committee to be investigated further. This matter was sent to the committee with votes from 40 members.
This issue was sent to be investigated by the National Security Committee.
This issue was put forward by the president in June of last year. But the government decided to leave the commonwealth on the 13th of this month before the parliament had reached a decision.
