Maldives records MVR3.46 bln revenue for third quarter

Government has recorded a revenue of MVR3.46 billion for the third quarter, the latest statistics released by the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) showed.

The figure however is 5.8 percent lower than the same period last year where MVR 3.67 billion was recorded for the third quarter.

Highest revenue earners

  • MVR 1.3 billion from GST
  • MVR 997 million from BPT
  • MVR 360 million from tourism land rent
  • MVR 144 million from green tax

The statistics show that MVR 1.34 billion has been collected as Goods and Services Tax (GST) which was just short of MVR 1.36 billion estimated for the period, while MVR997 million as Business Profits Tax (BPT) also barely missed the estimated MVR 1 billion.

MIRA also said MVR 360 million was collected as Tourism Land Rent falling short of the estimated MVR 432 million. The recently introduced Green Tax was recorded at MVR 144 million with the government estimates standing at MVR 382 million.

Revenue in dollars has increased

The government tax agency informed that USD 122.9 million was acquired as revenue which is a 1.2% increase from last year's USD 121.44 million.
