Sonu Shivdasani, the CEO of Soneva, has said that 23% of the employees at the newly opened Soneva Jani resort are female, and that Soneva wants to increase the amount female Maldivian workers.
Indian billionaire Sonu said in an interview to telegraph regarding Soneva Jani, which was opened in early October, that their are many talented women who can work in the Maldivian tourism industry, and that he wants to give a chance for these women.
Sonu also said that while 23% employees of the new resort are female, he wants to increase this amount to 30%. Soneva Jani has a different accommodation block for female workers with completely modern facilities.
'Soneva Jani' is a resort developed very different from the rest of the resorts in Maldives. This resort has 24 sea rooms, an outdoor cinema and an area designated for children to play in. 13 of the villas in the resort are one room. The resorts are designed for tourists to have a first tier holiday experience.
Sonu also has another resort in the Maldives, Soneva Fushi which is operating in B.Atoll. This resort opened by Sonu and his wife, former Swedish supermodel Eva 20 years ago marked the start of Sonu's business interest in the Maldives.
