The second National Communication Report regarding the effects caused by climate change and the ways to lessen the impact of climate change has been released.
The report was released by Environment Minister, Thoriq Ibrahim. This report was compiled to be presented to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC), of which Maldives is a member.
The report notes on the dangers of climate change and the efforts ongoing at a national level to avoid these threats and protect the country.
The yearly meetings regarding climate change held by the United Nations is set to start next ween in Morocco. The Environment Ministry reveals that this meeting will turn out to be an important one because the Paris Agreement compiled last year will come into force on November 4th of this year.
Speaking at the event held to release the report, the Minister said that this report will heavily encourage the international efforts by the Maldives against climate change and will further reveal the vulnerability of small island nations to the world.
