World's oldest sail ship arrives in Maldives

The world’s oldest working full-rigged ship, SS Sorlandet from Norway arrived in Maldives on Sunday.

The ship, nicknamed 'The Pearl of Norway' has 27 sails. She has sailed the oceans of the world for close to 90 years, most of the time as a training ship, hosting students and cadets.

Top government officials including education minister Dr Aishath Shiham and fisheries minister Dr Mohamed Shainee had visited the ship which has also been used as a prison ship during World War II.

The ship has 51 students, seven teachers and a dozen crew members on board.
