Maldivian doctors to get specialist training in Nepal

Another three doctors are set to be sent to Nepal under the program to increase specialists in the health sector.

These three doctors were chosen for the three slots provided by the Nepal National Academy of Medical Sciences to receive specialized training. At a special event held earlier Wednesday, Health Minister Abdulla Nazim met with the doctors.

The doctors going to Nepal are going to be specialized in the Cardiology (DM), Burn and Plastic (MCH) and Urology (MSCH).

Another 20 doctors are already being specialized under government provided scholarships. There are currently Maldivian doctors specializing in various fields in the Nepal Academy of Medical Sciences.

Another 17 Maldivians are receiving specialized training in Nepal's Tribhuvan University.

The Health Ministry had said the government spends 53,000 dollars per head to train super specialist doctors.
