The venue for the World Travel Award has a sudden change from Olhuveli Beach Resort and Spa to the Sun Siyam Irufushi. The award show will be held next Friday.
The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) said the switch was forced due to logistical difficulties made due to difficulties in the logistics, and that the decision was made out of the control of MMPRC. The main tourism promotion company said the sudden change had prompted the cancellation of some invitations.
The website for the award also shows that the venue has been changed. It has been informed that the bookings of all the guests visiting for this event will be automatically changed to Irufushi resort.
The World Travel Award, which has been lauded as the Oscars of the tourism scene, has seen Maldives take home more than a few honours.. The award has been ongoing since 1993.
