Maldives to honour best 'youth friendly' resort

Government has decided to confer a special award to the resort that offers the best opportunities for young men and women in the Maldives, tourism minister Moosa Zameer revealed Tuesday.

Zameer told Avas that president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's primary aim was to provide unprecedented employment opportunities to local youth.

In order to recognize the resort that offers the best opportunities for youth, the government would introduce a special award from next year, Zameer explained.

"We will hand the award during the tourism day celebrations. So we will keep monitoring the resorts," he added.

Zameer also said the winning resort would receive special government assistance including its marketing effort.
