Deputy Housing Minister, Abdulh Muthalib has said that the toll management of the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge and traffic survey will be completed within the next 6 months.
He said on Wednesday night that this will be done by foreign contractors. However, the contractors assigned with this task were not specified.
"If we let the public use the bridge without any guidelines, the bridge will be a very dangerous place. So a bridge toll and traffic survey must conducted, and the findings will be shared with the government and policies will be finalised then. Only then will we find out whether only commercial vehicles are charged, or if members of the public are charged as well," he explained.
The Housing Ministry has informed that the pillars of the bridge will also be completed by the end of this time period. The Ministry has also decided to launch a public transport system between Male', Hulhumale', and Hulhule, once the bridge is opened.
