Fisheries Minister Dr. Mohamed Shainee, who plays an important role in creating political dialogue on behalf of the government, has stated that there are no other leaders in Maldives capable of running the country the way President Abdulla Yameen does, and that it was highly unlikely that such a candidate would present themselves in the next five years.
He also said that he has seen no leaders capable of running with President Yameen so far in a political campaign in this country, and that there are no leaders capable of putting in the hard work and effort put in by the incumbent president.
"President Yameen looks to carry the country forward, more than he looks to carry himself forward politically. The large developmental projects ongoing in the Maldives are the visible reality of this," Shainee said.
"He said on the day of his inauguration that he did not look to challenge any other political leaders, but looked to improve the country instead. The economic infrastructure was in shambles at the time."
Shainee further stated that the development seen in three years of President Yameen's tenure could be compared to the development seen in the last three decades.
"He brought more developmental changes in three years than another president could in 30 years. He has solved many issues which remained unsolved in the Maldives, and he has brought much progress to this country."
