The individual who was injured in Saturday’s accident on Addu City’s Link Road has passed away while receiving treatment in the capital Male.
Mohamed Azeem, 29, passed away in the wee hours of Sunday morning while being treated at the state-run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
Azeem was airlifted to the capital on Saturday evening after being treated at Hithadhoo Regional Hospital after his condition worsened, IGMH reported.
Witnesses of the accident said that he lost control of his motorbike after driving over a pothole on the road while he was speeding.
Many serious accidents occur on Addu City’s Link Road every year – which is the second longest road in the Maldives. It is protocol to wear a helmet while driving on the Link Road to avoid such injuries.
