Gayoom's foundation opens 80 scholarships

Former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom's 'Maumoon Foundation' has opened 80 part-funded scholarships to local students.

According to the Foundation, the 80 opportunities are based on courses across 20 different fields at Garden City College, Bangalore, India.

The duration of the courses are a period of three years and four slots are open for each course.

The areas covered by the scholarships include: Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Commerce (HONS), Bachelor of Commerce, Tourism, History, Journalism, Bachelor of Journalism (HONS), Bachelor of Computer Application, Psychology, English, Fashion and Apparel Design, as well as Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Genetics. The scholarship further covers Masters of Tourism and Travel Management, Tourism (HONS), Masters in English, MA Honours in English, MSC in English, BSC Hotel Management and Catering Technology.

The Maumoon Foundation (TMF) is a non-profit charitable institution set up on 26 January 2010 by the former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, to fulfil his desire to utilize his resources, contacts and experience in improving the livelihoods of the Maldivian people.
