A tourist was left injured after an attempted mugging near the Hulhumale terminal around 7:04 pm on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson revealed that the female tourist was walking by the terminal when two men on a motorcycle attempted to snatch her handbag, leaving the tourist injured.
Police added that the woman was walking with two other female tourists when the attempted mugging happened.The tourists were of nationalities Uzbek, Ukrainian and Moldovan. Police noted that they hope to wrap up the investigation before the tourist departed on Wednesday night.
The injured tourist was treated immediately at ADK hospital.
Recent reports of muggings have been on the rise in the capital Male. Police, however, are working actively to ensure a safe community and environment is established in the Maldives.
