Maldives’ first model UN to be held in August

Maldives Model United Nation (MVMUN) will hold the first ever nation-wide model united nations conference in the Maldives in August, as a platform for the Maldivian youth to establish the civilisation for generations to come.

The conference is to be held at Dharubaaruge with a total of 525 delegates, between the ages 14-25. The delegates of the conference will represent 8 committees and 40 admins will join the conference as well.

The conference aims to prepare participants to be better global citizens through quality educational experiences that emphasise collaboration and cooperative resolution of conflict. We envision a world comprised of civically engaged people who strive for peaceful, multi-lateral conflict resolution and equitable, sustainable human development. MUN conferences are also experiential learning programs that provide students with a better understanding of the inner workings of the UN and a forum to hone skills in diplomacy, negotiation, critical thinking, compromise, public speaking, writing, and research.

Application forms for delegates and admins are open and available on the official facebook page MVMUN2017. Deadlines for the application of the form is July 26.

MVMUN has already elected their executive committee. Women Entrepreneurs Maldives and UNRC (United Nations Resident Co-ordinator) have endorsed the conference.
