Housing ministry on Thursday, stated that they will be resuming the re-construction of the main road in the capital Malé, Majeedhee Magu next month after putting the project on hold for the holy month of Ramadan.
Housing ministry said that the revamping of the main road will resume on the August 1 starting from the area near the oldest cinema in Male, ‘Olympus’. The stretch of the road to the west of ‘Olympus’ has already been completed.
The ministry has plans to revamp 12 other main roads in Male in 2018.
The road development project includes the establishment of better road water drainage system as well as more specially designed sidewalks for the disabled.
The construction of the main road had heavily affected traffic flow in Male city, causing major traffic congestion, especially during rush hour.
