The body of the 11-year-old boy, from Noonu atoll Maalhendhoo, who allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself is being transported to the capital city Malé for further investigation into cause of death.
Police decided to bring the body to Male on Wednesday in order to conduct further tests at state Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
The boy’s mother is said to be the only one to have seen the body hanging. The boy was pronounced dead after being taken to the Maalhendhoo health centre.
Gender ministry in a statement on Tuesday said that there had been no cases filed of the child and urged the public to notify the ministry of any such issues involving children.
