Maldives Police Service has confronted viral social media posts related to a new 'flavored' narcotic making waves into the schools and educational institutes.

Dubbed "Strawberry Quick" the narcotic pills apparently give off a sweet taste.

The social media message had warned citizens of the widespread distribution of the drug often laced into chocolate or candies; offered to students and teachers. The message also explained the narcotic substance was designed to taste sweet in order to create an appeal with youngsters.

Police had retorted to the rumor confirming that any distribution or spread of any narcotic substance as specified is baseless, adding that neither parents or teachers have made any complaints or come forth with any reports of it.

Following the incident Police had advised to be responsible in spreading news on social media platforms and to refrain from faux news.
