Maldives has been experiencing extreme weather conditions in the last few days with heavy rains and strong winds.

Meteorology said the storm was now dissipating and expects the weather to clear by Sunday.

Disaster management centre had said flood and wind damage have been reported from islands from Haa Alif to Laamu Atoll.

Meteorology department had issued yellow alerts for north to central Atolls in the archipelago while also warning sea swells in some parts of the country.

Coast guard has remained on stand-by with several marine incidents reported in the past few days.

Authorities have urged precautionary measures to protect homes from wind and flood damage. The coast guard has also urged citizens against non-essential sea travel.
