International watchdog of global cooperation and order United Nations has declared they are prepared to engage in dialogue with politicians in Maldives to avert the ongoing political crisis.

Spokesperson to UN's Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Stephane Dujarric responding to media queries stated the Maldives political strife can be lifted through dialogue between the island nation's multiple political parties and they will soon commence 'peace talks' with the inclusion of these entities.

"We are ready to engage in full capacity to hold discussions," Dujarric noted.

Meanwhile Maldives government had denied to comply to the country's Supreme Court order to release nine political dissidents which includes the self-exiled former president Mohamed Nasheed along with former vice president Ahmed Adeeb among others.

Instead of implementing the top-court order, government had declared a 15-day state of emergency with as many as 20 constitutional and several judicature rights suspended under it.

While the Maldives state has invited the country's opposition front for discussions, the multi-party opposition preconditioned for the release of their respective leaders in jail and to lift the emergency.

Moreover opposition had conditioned the release of now jailed Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed along with top-court judge Ali Hameed along with the nine political prisoners the top court initially ordered to release.

In addition to this they had also asserted they are no longer willing to face the ruling party in discussions unless UN acts as a mediator in it, which was requested through a letter sent to the international body's Secretary General.

However ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) counter-conditioned stating they will be participating in dialogue without the inclusion of any international mediator; referring they unwelcome UN's involvement.

UN had previously attempted to mitigate several multi-party discussions in Maldives, however it has not come to fruition so far.
