Health Ministry has cautioned the public and medical institutions about a counterfeit batch of Hepatitis B vaccine that are in circulation across the globe.
On Wednesday the ministry had confirmed World Health Organization had released an alert due to a counterfeit batch of the vaccine making rounds in Uganda.
The ministry claims it had done valid research regarding the fake vaccine batch, adding that based on recently acquired records it had not been imported to Maldives - which was cross referenced with the counterfeit batch number.
According to Maldives health ministry, the original vaccine of the counterfeit product are manufactured by Serum Institute, India.
Pharmaceutical companies have been advised not to import the product into Maldives.
