Elections Commission on Wednesday has confirmed they will announce the voters' registry for upcoming elections on May.
Though the electoral watchdog will publicize the voters' list on May re-registration process for the 2018 presidential election will open in June.
Speaking to Avas Online, the commission's member Ahmed Akram noted they are currently attempting to attend all prerequisites of the 2018 election adding the commission is aiming to avoid any last minute urgency that may hinder the entire process. Akram said the electoral watchdog was currently busy in compiling a full voters' registry which would be completed by April's end.
He also highlighted many of the administrative procedures prior to elections have already been completed by the commission.
While EC is set to announce voters' registry on May, several cases of short window for re-registration and complaint lodging has been recorded previously.
Akram replied to this stating the EC's decision to announce full voters' list was to provide sufficient time for people to present their complaints as well as to provide a proper window for re-registration.
Elections Commission will also announce to seek election observers and monitors in May.
The electoral watchdog promised a transparent and interesting presidential election in 2018.
