Firefighters have been called in to put out two fires that broke out nearly simultaneously in the reclaimed suburb Hulhumale on Thursday.
Fire department spokesperson said the first call came after a fire-broke out on a barge at a scrap yard, while the second fire broke out in a crane near the ports area.
The spokesperson said the crane fire had now been put out but firefighters were still battling the first fire.
Details of the two incidents remain unclear.
