A high ranking officer of the Maldives National Defense Force's (MNDF) Coastguard unit has been abruptly sacked.
The terminated officer has now been confirmed as Maldives army's Major Abdul Muhsin Mohamed, serving under the Coastguard unit. Prior to his termination, Muhsin was held under custody at MNDF site.
Major Abdul Muhsin was sacked from his post sometime last week however the army had not disclosed the reason for his termination.
MNDF spokesperson Captain Ibrahim Azim claimed the army had no policy of disclosing information to media over disciplinary or administrative action taken against its officers.
