Local market 'slows down' as Ramadan ends

The local market traffic has slowed down as the Islamic sacred month of Ramadan draws to an end.

Most in-demand item during every Ramadan, watermelon, has started to 'diminish' from market stalls. Several vendors claim the local produce they receive have slowed down as the inventory from originating islands have reduced in figures.

As the quantity of watermelon for sale has dropped, the price for a kilogram of watermelon sold has bumped to MVR40.

Meanwhile chili and leafy products have dropped in its figures from local market stalls as their supply had slowed as well.

However, onion, potato and egg are unaffected items with regards to its availability.
