Maldives electoral watchdog Elections Commission has commenced the survey to assess the multiple voting centers months ahead of 2018 presidential election.
According to the commission most of the voting centers are selected from various schools or medical institutions; which grants a spacious area for voters to visit and vote without getting overcrowded.
The presidential election of 2018 will commence on September 23 according to Elections Commission.
Ballot boxes are expected to be kept in local resorts and industrial islands as well as a few of the foreign countries with large numbers of locals residing, apart from all inhabited islands of Maldives.
While most of the preliminary works for the election has been conducted and completed, the commission has opened doors for local and international reporters to cover the event.
Elections Commission has slated July 15 as the official date to place name for the presidential elections.
So far only three have announced formally to contest in the elections which includes incumbent president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, former home minister Umar Naseer and former Local Government Authority (LGA) vice president Shujau Hussain.
