A deadly accident occurred on Saturday morning at Velana International Airport (VIA) when a plan in motion hit a parked aircraft.
An official speaking from VIA corroborated the news stating an Air-Asia flight shortly after landing had hit a Qatar Airways plane that had been parked nearby.
The official noted the wing of Air-Asia flight scraped on the Qatar Airways plane when the former drew closer to passenger terminal. The wing of Qatar Airways plane sustained significant damage in the incident.
The airport official confirmed investigation was underway to identify reason behind the accident.
