A speedboat carrying tourists caught fire near Kaafu Atoll Huraa island on Wednesday, coastguard said.
The incident was reported around 10.50am on Wednesday and the coastguard along with firefighters had been quickly dispatched.
Coastguard said the speedboat's engine had caught fire but no one had been injured in the incident.
The tourists had been rescued and taken to nearby Bandos Island Resort and Spa, coastguard said.
