RaajjeTV installs donation box for defamation fine

Opposition aligned RaajjeTV in light of their recent fine from Maldives Broadcasting Commission has installed a donation box to raise money.

The channel was recently fined again for MVR2 million by broadcasting commission for airing content that violated regulations.

The donation box was publicly opened officially for donations by opposition presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Friday afternoon, and donated money as well.

Several opposition supporters since then had gathered near the station's venue and donated money.

After broadcasting commission had slapped their third such fine on RaajjeTV the channel claims it was a clear act endorsed by ruling party to bring end to their operations.

Their recent fine comes due to allegedly airing content against incumbent president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, which was asserted as well by a broadcasting commission's official.
