Maldives' new int'l airport ready for first test flight on Tue

Maldives' newest international airport being developed in Noonu Atoll is gearing up for test flights on Tuesday.

Regional airports director Sami Ageel told AVAS on Monday that all the arrangements have now been made to welcome the first test flight to the Maafaru International Airport (MIA) funded by the Abu Dhabi Fund.

"Hopefully the first test flight would land at the airport at around 2.15pm tomorrow [Tuesday]," Ageel said.

The project worth USD60 million has been described as a 'gift' to the Maldivian people by the UAE government with 2,200 meter runway capable of catering to the biggest air crafts and modern facilities.
