Opposition presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has claimed his wife Fazna Ahmed will not be involved in the political affairs of Maldives, should he get elected as president.
While Solih hass claimed his wife will not be involved in political affairs, his opponent president Abdulla Yameen's wife, Madam Fathimath Ibrahim is vividly seen in the local political field.
The first lady of Maldives is seen visiting several islands to muster support for her husband; who is contesting for re-election in 2018, which directs harsh criticism from opposition.
However, Solih's wife is completely absent from the presidential candidate's campaign activities and trips to various atolls.
Similarly the wives of former presidents Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Mohamed Nasheed and even Mohamed Waheed did not partake in political activities strongly, but they have long been known for their social contribution.
"I do not believe it is a good idea for the spouse of the country's president to contribute to politics so actively," Solih said during a RaajjeTV aired program.
