Elections Commission (EC) of Maldives has advised against forging or duplicating ballot papers that will be used for the crunch presidential elections in 2018.
The forged ballot papers appear with the commission's logo (or emblem) stamped digitally on them.
The commission fired the warning after forged or duplicated ballot papers appeared on various social media platforms which have since been shared multiple times by several users. Maldives electoral watchdog has advised against sharing or making similar copies of such documents.
EC on Sunday released a press statement condemning the act of posting or publicizing such forgery on social media platforms, and urged against duplicating ballot papers without the commission's consent.
The electoral watchdog also reminded everyone that such forgery is a criminal offense according to Maldives Constitution.
