Opposition presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has also confirmed he will be participating in the presidential debate prior to the crunch elections in September.
The presidential debate is hosted by Public Service Media (PSM) in association with Maldives National University (MNU) earlier next month. However, the exact date of the debate has yet to be announced.
PSM on Wednesday confirmed the two presidential candidates have accepted their invitation for the coveted presidential debate - noted as the most important event prior to the elections.
Earlier ruling Progressive Party of Maldies (PPM) announced their presidential candidate, Abdulla Yameen who is seeking re-election, has accepted the invite.
Meanwhile the channel has attracted widespread criticism for their seemingly biased approach in allowing politicians to promote the presidential candidate. Many lambaste the state channel is under ruling party's clutches.
