Opposition files complaints at HDC, Police over campaign interruption

Opposition coalition has filed complaints at both Maldives Police Service and Housing Development Corporation (HDC) for their alleged acts to interrupt their campaign activities to promote Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

In the letters to both local police and HDC the opposition has raised complaints regarding apparent attempts by both entities to continuously impede the campaign activities to promote their presidential candidate.

The letter raised concerns about continued interruption by local police in greater Male' region as well as across atolls by preventing opposition supporters from sticking campaign posters or placing banners across the streets.

HDC has done similar by intervening in opposition's attempts to place campaign materials at the reclaimed suburb; Hulhumale'.

Opposition has urged from both entities to ensure transparent and fair opportunities for all political parties to practice their campaign activities in promoting their respective candidates.

Meanwhile ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has raised concerns and complained likewise that the opposition were using the color magenta in their campaign materials. According to the ruling party, the color is specifically registered for PPM to use in their logo and banners.
