Former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom's advocate Maumoon Hameed addressed he was concerned for not being able to meet with his client prior to jail transfer.

Gayoom's health deteriorated on Thursday, however Maldives Correctional Service had shifted the ailing former president from Maafushi jail to Dhoonidhoo.

The scheduled advocate meeting on Thursday was cancelled as well due to the abrupt decision to transfer Gayoom.

Authorities had fixed client-attorney meeting for Gayoom on Friday afternoon. But his advocate Maumoon Hameed claims he was informed of the development minutes close to the end of visiting hour.

Hameed's inquiry about the reason for late notification was responded ten minutes later by Maldives Police stating he was not informed beforehand over 'administrative issues.'

The prominent lawyer had also stated he believes authorities had not granted meeting with Gayoom due to the latter's worsening health condition.

Authorities on Friday had transferred Gayoom back to Maafushi jail.
