President of Maldives Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has visited Faafu atoll as part of campaign trips to atolls.
President Office spokesperson Ibrahim Muaz Ali confirmed the island nation's president was visiting the atoll on a one-day trip.
The Maldives head of state first visited the island of Feeali on Saturday morning to meet with its islanders. He is expected to visit several inhabited islands of the atoll on Saturday.
While the presidential candidate seeking re-election is visiting Faafu atoll on Saturday, he recently made a trip to Haa Dhaal atoll Kulhudhuffushi and Nolhivaram to participate in closing ceremonies of various projects.
