Progressive Party of Maldives' (PPM) parliamentary group leader Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik on Tuesday claimed that president Yameen will receive 80% of votes in presidential elections.
The prominent lawmaker claimed that even if the elections were held tomorrow, president Yameen will still manage a landslide win.
During a press conference held on Tuesday MP Nihan claimed Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and the opposition have lost the 'fight' already. He went on to add the ruling party's campaign trip to Alif Alif and Alif Dhaal atolls were strongly evident on the increase in president Abdulla Yameen's approval.
MP Nihan had accused the opposition of attempting to hinder ruling party's campaign efforts, but claimed the Maldivian public were content with the country's progress which he credited to the incumbent president.
The ruling party lawmaker further commented president Yameen had achieved 90% of his campaign pledges in 2013.
Nihan added president Yameen's administration has achieved 100% on the promises regarding education sector. He also stated that more than 2,800 projects were carried out across 30 constituencies in Maldives with MVR8.8 billion spent on developmental projects.
