Island Aviation board removes MDA member

Former Chief Executive Officer of Sun Media Group, and MDA member Sinan Ali has been dismissed from Island Aviation's board on Sunday.

Maldives Privatization Board president Mohamed Nizar confirmed the decision to Avas Online, however did not disclose the reason for the abrupt removal of Sinan Ali from Island Aviation's board.

Sinan Ali also fills the responsibility as the media coordinator for MDA, and was a previous board member of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

Later he was appointed as the chairman of State Electric Company (STELCO) but was transferred back to MTCC's board after three months. He was later appointed as a board member to Island Aviation.

While Sinan Ali was removed from Island Aviation's board almost abruptly, tensions are ripe between ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and MDA with some questioning the strength of the alliance.

Recently MDA declared their stance ahead of the crunch presidential elections, stating their decision to stick to neutrality.
