MDP pres candidate claims pres yameen unaware of true development

Modern-day developmental concepts escape the mind of incumbent president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, according to his opposition counterpart in the crunch presidential elections.

While speaking to the public of Shaviyani atoll Foakaidhoo, opposition presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih claimed a country's true development is assessed by comparing income per capita against the general expenditure of the public and relative affordability of all primary services.

"None of these [examples] talk about development by concrete and iron but rather about the public's welfare and sustainability," Solih commented.

Solih also bemoaned that several of the Maldivian population suffer heavily without finding affordable sheltering, while he also focused on the adversity of unchecked real estate prices.

The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) backed presidential candidate also claimed the island nation's public were in dire predicament over medical expenses which most cannot meet monetarily.

Solih also stressed on the important of Maldives' dependency on foreign aid and international partners in the country's socio-economic development. The presidential hopeful further commented Maldives do not stand go gain any foreign favors by stepping out of Commonwealth or constantly challenging the European Union's concerns.

Once again, Solih had reiterated his origin party's notion of enforcing a decentralized system and enforcing island council units; vesting them with special authorities in administering their respective constituencies.
