Police blocks PPM supporters from creating nuisance at Addu City

Special Operations unit of Maldives Police Force active at Addu City Meedhoo have blocked ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) supporters who attempted to create nuisance upon opposition presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's arrival.

A group of PPM supporters gathered near Meedhoo's harbor upon Solih's arrival around 11:00hrs on Thursday morning.

While the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) endorsed candidate was being greeted by locals of the island ruling party supporters had voiced loud criticism with the aid of megaphones.

The ruling party supporters had played PPM's campaign songs loudly in order to create disturbance for Solih. However, not long after Solih's arrival was interrupted by PPM supporters officers of Special Operations unit of Police had arrived on site and pushed them back.

Another similar incident took place earlier in reclaimed suburb, Hulhumale' when a group of notably PPM supporters had attempted to create commotion and instigated the opposition delegation.
