Police have raided the campaign headquarters of opposition alliance presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on the eve of the presidential elections.

Police on Twitter explained that it entered the building to stop "unlawful activities".

The raid came as the opposition alliance supporters led by the veteran lawmaker Solih took to the streets in the capital Male as the final campaign event before campaigning ends at 6pm ahead of the crunch elections on Sunday.

However, according to reports coming in from the opposition, police are yet to search the premises or confiscate any items in the campaign office.
