Maldives police ups ante on security ahead of Pres polls

Maldives Police Service on Saturday commenced their security protocols ahead of presidential polls on Sunday, September 23.

The special operation was initiated by police acting commissioner Abdulla Nawaz on Saturday afternoon during a special operation held at one of department's prime headquarters in Maldives capital.

Earlier local police have made claims of reports they received of yet undisclosed entities gearing up to create commotion and disrupt the peace on elections day. Police claims such attempts to instigate violence will be met with equivalent resistance.

The operation will see local police upgrading their security protocols across Maldives capital where the most number of voters will be visiting to cast votes at ballot stations.
