On early Sunday morning both presidential candidates have visited their designated ballot stations to cast vote in the 2018 presidential elections.
Exercising the constitutional rights both sitting president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and his opposition counterpart visited their designated polling stations while their respective running-mates have also visited to cast vote.
Around 08:30hrs on Sunday morning President Abdulla Yameen visited the ballot box number 3 for North-Machchangolhi to cast his vote. A few minutes back opposition presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih visited Imaadhuddin School to cast his vote as well.
Earlier opposition candidate's running-mate Faisal Naseem visited Arabiyya School to exercise his constitutional right of voting as well.
The 2018 presidential elections kicked-off at 08:00hrs on Sunday morning with hundreds and thousands of Maldivian locals gathering in various polling stations to make the decision.
To ensure peaceful progress of the presidential polls, Elections Commission of Maldives have urged the country's public to discourage unrest and avoid acts provoking commotion or altercations.
