Residents of Gaaf Dhaal Atoll Thinadhoo island have echoed concerns after the newly constructed mosque dubbed the new Islamic centre in the island sprung several leaks from the roof.
The mosque was opened earlier this month and already mosque goers have been forced to use buckets during prayer times.
Thinadhoo council president Ibrahim Assad told AVAS on Sunday that residents have complained over the leaky roof but relevant authorities have yet to address the concerns.
Assad said attempts to find the leak have been futile.
The mosque worth MVR34.4 million was partly funded by the Saudi government was officially opened on September 17.
