Several expatriates suffered burn injuries after a fire broke out in the kitchen of an under construction resort in Dhaal Atoll on Wednesday.
Fire department said the fire broke out in 'Maagaa' resort just before sunset on Wednesday leaving several expatriate workers injured in the incident.
The incident occurred during an inspection of the staff kitchen when an appliance was switched on. There was reportedly a gas leak in the kitchen and a fire broke after a small explosion.
Fire department said the injured expats had been rushed to the regional hospital in Faafu Atoll Nilandhoo island. Hospital officials were now making arrangements to bring some of the injured to the capital Male for further treatment.
