Ex-Pres vows to increase tourist beds in Addu

Former President, Mohamed Nasheed stated on Wednesday that parliament majority for Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has to be assured in the upcoming parliamentary election in order to increase number of tourist beds in Addu City by another 5000.

Speaking at a primary campaign launching event of a candidate contesting for Addu City seat, Nasheed said the number of flights that land at Gan International Airport needs to be increased. With the development of the airport, there should be no obstacle to increasing the quantity of tourist beds, which would subsequently create 5000 new jobs, explained Nasheed.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has vowed to develop tourism in Addu City. Nasheed is confident that his plan to upgrade the airport and increase number of beds would fulfill the presidential vow.
