Maldivian Foreign Minister, Abdulla Shahid met with the Secretary General of United Nations, Mr. António Guterres on Saturday.
The meeting took place during his visit to New York City of the United States to take part in the UN Security Council meeting.
Foreign Ministry revealed that the Minister spoke on the climate change issues and briefed the Secretary General on the sustainable development agenda of the Maldives. The Minister pledged the cooperation of the archipelago in the efforts of the Secretary General, assuring that the Maldives will continue its advocacy and activism on the most challenging issues to the Maldives and other small states, such as climate change.
The Foreign Minister also with the Under Secretary of the UN and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS) during his visit.
Minister Shahid concluded his visit to the States and traveled to London on Saturday.
