Maldivian consulate to be established in Jeddah

Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has revealed that a Maldivian consulate will be established in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in the near future.

The Foreign Minister made the announcement at the 46th meeting of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers at Abu Dhabhi, UAE.

The minister noted that the establishment of the consulate would enable a lot of ease to Maldives, and would also provide the opportunity to work more closely with OIC.

Minister Shahid did not disclose the date that the consulate will be opened.

While the country prepares to open it's first consulate in Jeddah, a Maldivian Embassy already exists in Riyad of Saudi Arabia.
