Pres Solih to depart on campaign trail

Main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has announced that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will be traveling to three different atolls of the Maldives to campaign for the upcoming parliamentary election.

During the daily press conferences held by the party, MDP spokesperson for the parliamentary election, Afshan Latheef said the president will be traveling to Vaavu, Lhaviyani and Noonu atolls in the next few days.

The President will depart to Vaavu atoll on Thursday, and will then travel to Lhaviyani atoll on Friday, after which he willbe travelling to Noonu atoll on Saturday.

Afshan said all costs of the trips will be borne by MDP as the purpose of the trip is campaigning for MDP for the upcoming parliamentary election.

While less than a month remains for the parliamentary election, the president has been visiting several atolls for campaigning. His first trip was to Guraidhoo island of Kaafu atoll while last weekend, he traveled to southernmost Addu city accompanied y former president Mohamed Nasheed.
