Pres. assures commencement of all water and sewerage projects

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has promised to establish water and sewerage systems in all islands of Maldives within the first three years of administration.

Speaking at Nolhivaramfaru island of Haa Dhaal atoll during the President's ongoing campaign trail to the atoll, the President said several islands are in need of basic necessities such as housing and water and sewerage systems. The country can be developed only through enabling basic needs to the people, and ensuring that the people are able to live a comfortable life, he said.

"Our first efforts were towards this, we promised to establish water and sewerage systems. Hopefully, within the first three years of our administration, the projects to establish water and sewerage systems at all corners of Maldives will commence", said the President.

The President further said that the citizens of the nation voted for him in the 2018 presidential election because they desired a change in the system followed by the previous government, and because they wanted development.

"The people voted for us in order to bring an end to the fear and terror and with-held rights, to provide employment opportunities for the people, to ensure that education and health facilities are made available in all islands"

Since he took Office in November, the government has been working tirelessly towards fulfilling the desires of the people, said the President. 83% of all targets set to be achieved within the first 100 days of administration have already been fulfilled, the president noted.

The president has full confidence that all presidential pledges can be fulfilled within the five year term, and the cooperation of the people and parliament members is vital to achieve this, the president stressed.
