Majlis to meet with media twice a week

The People’s Majlis will be meeting the media twice a week.

Speaking to the media after the second sitting of the 19th Parliament, Secretary General of the People’s Majlis Fathimath Niusha revealed that the Speaker of the parliament, Mohamed Nasheed has made the decision for the parliament to meet with the media twice a week to give information on the work being done by the parliament.

Niusha stated that information on the work done by the MPs during that day’s sitting as well as the agenda planned for the week will be shared with the media during the press meetings. The media will also be granted the opportunity to ask questions, said Niusha.

The Secretary General highlighted the work done at the parliament during its second sitting, which included granting approval for Indian PM Narendra Modi to deliver a speech at the parliament during his upcoming trip to the Maldives and appointing MP Hisaan Husaain as a member of the Judicial Service Commission. The parliament also voted to send the amendments to the parliament rules within 30 days to the temporary committee comprised for the purpose.
